To be Danish is to be part of a design heritage where form, function and simplicity have the final say. In everything we design there has to be a purpose, a contributing factor that must add to the whole of the shoe. Nothing we design is done just for the sake of doing it. This isn’t to say all ECCO shoes resemble Danish design, but the principle that form has to follow function are there, every step of the way. Perhaps this is why ECCO has been exhibited at the Danish Design Center as an innovator in Scandinavian Design.
