Copenhagen Walkathon raised DKK 600,000

DKK 600,000 was raised at this year’s ECCO Walkathon in Copenhagen on Sunday August 26. The ninth edition of ECCO Walkathon in Copenhagen had over 15,000 participants that walked the 6 and 10 km routes through the streets of Copenhagen.

Alexandra Christina Countess of Frederiksborg performed the official opening of ECCO Walkathon, and she walked the 6 km route together with Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix. Many ambassadors for the three charity organisations that ECCO is working with were also present at the event.  Helle Thorning-Schmidt, Jens Veggerby and Trine Panum Kjeldsen were present from the Danish Heart Association, Vibeke Hartkorn, Torbjørn Sindballe, Michael Bjørnson and Maria Rudí represented Street Kids International and Martin Thorborg and Martin Keller represented WWF.

As usual, the ECCO Walkathon event offered lots of entertainment and activities for both children and adults. The scenic routes through Copenhagen passed many historical landmarks as well as the statue of the Little Mermaid and the Amalienborg castle.

ECCO has worked closely with three charity organisations, namely WWF, Street Kids International and the Danish Heart association to find targeted projects through which ECCO Walkathon can really make a difference. Along the routes were informative banners that provided facts about the individual charity projects.
