ECCO Staff Player Sophie Gustafson Captures 2007 Ladies European Order of Merit

Sophie GustafsonRenowned Danish shoemaker ECCO announces that staff player Sophie Gustafson - who competed all season in the brand's distinctive Sport Tempo and Sport Tempo Hydromax golf shoes – has captured the 2007 Ladies European Tour Order of Merit title.

The 34-year-old Swede earned the award by winning more than €220,000 despite competing in only seven LET events while splitting time between Europe and the LPGA Tour. Highlights of her stellar season included a victory at the Ladies Scottish Open and four other top-10s, including runner-up finishes at the Scandinavian TPC, UNIQA Ladies Golf Open and Madrid Ladies Masters. She also competed as a member of the European Solheim Cup squad for the sixth time.

Since turning pro in 1992, Gustafson has won more than 20 tournaments worldwide – including four LPGA Tour titles – and was previously Europe's No. 1 in 2000 and 2003.

"It's been a good season in Europe and it's been a good season in the States as well. I'm quite happy. Winning is always good; that's why I work so hard," said Gustafson. "It feels really good. Three money list titles is definitely special."

"Sophie has had a tremendous year and has been a wonderful ambassador for the brand," says Jesper Thuen, Sponsor and Event Manager, ECCO Golf. "She's in great position for another strong campaign in 2008 and we're excited by the prospects of continued success for her and our other staff players."
