June 13, 2009 - Aalborg, Kildeparken

DKK 110,000 collected by 1614 Aalborgers

It was with great pleasure that - in cooperation with Aalborg Municipality - we held the ECCO Walkathon in Aalborg for the first time on Saturday 13 June 2009.

A total of DKK 110,000 was collected for the Danish Heart Foundation’s Children’s fund, WWF Worldwide Fund for Nature and Street Kids International who were all in attendance in Kildeparken with various activities. An all, 1614 Aalborgers walked through the city's streets and green areas, using their feet to raise money. In addition to the donated money they raised by walking, 415 children collected more than DKK 20,000 by holding a treasure hunt.

Mohamed from the X-Factor gave a taster of his latest hits and also performed a couple of the numbers he sang on X-Factor – to the great delight of the assembled children and young people. The Crew from Fristedet entertained the crowd with dance and music whilst The Company performed some well-known cover versions. Skovmand & Bue linked the acts on stage with loads of funny comments.

We would like to thank Aalborg Municipality and Nordjyske Medier for the excellent cooperation.

We hope to see just as many participants in 2010!

You see, for every kilometre you walk ECCO will donate 7.50 DKK to the project you choose to support. Last year, ECCO donated more than 3.5 million DKK to Street Kids International, WWF, and local heath projects.
