We need volunteers. So take the day off and help us help others.
June 13, 2009 - Odense, Flakhaven
DKK 165,000 collected by 2,627 citizens of Odense
So, we have just held the ECCO Walkathon in Odense, once again in cooperation with Odense Municipality. The day was a huge success with 2,627 participants who collectively raised DKK 165,000 for Street Kids International, WWF Worldwide Fund for Nature and the Danish Heart Association’s Children’s Fund.
The weather was fine and the fighting spirit was high throughout the entire march. The citizens of Odense went all out to collect the most money, and indeed they succeeded. However, the participants had also been in training from last year when the ECCO Walkathon was held on Funen for the first time. On the other hand, it was the first time the event was held in Århus and Aalborg.
Bubber was compère for the day, which was opened by Mayor Jan Boye. Sebastian Klein and Chapper, known by children from the TV, provided the entertainment in the morning whilst after having walked either 6 or 10 km, participants returned to the tones of Sko and Torp. They performed a long list of hits in the run-up to the hand-over of the donations cheque of DKK 165,000 to the organisations by Project Manager, Christian Arensbak.
We would like to thank Odense Municipality, Odense City and Sydbank for the great cooperation. Thanks also go to all the volunteers and participants.
We hope to see you all again next year!
