Due to the first edition of ECCO Walkathon in Cracow 107 514 PLN is going to suport foundation. Sunny weather encouraged families and friends to have a walk. Within only a few hours entrants covered the distance of 24 thousand kilometers and gained 107 514 PLN for charities. Everyone who arrived that day at Mały Rynek and took part in ECCO Walkathon could support projects run by foundation: Street Kids International and project Economy in the street, TVN Fundation “nie jesteś sam” which is going to buy specialized equipment for Children’s Hospital in Cracow – Prokocim and support an ecologic foundation WWF and its project of figth with “bushmeat”. Children up to 13 years of age received a special t-shirt together with a map of treasure hunters, which they completed with stickers during the walk. For every completed task they got a “golden” coin. By giving back 6 “golden coins” at the finishing line children gave additional 25 PLN for charities. Thereby the youngest entrants passed 11 250 PLN for charities taking part in this year’s Ecco Walkathon.

Mały Rynek will be the central venue of the Cracow Walkathon. The walk starts and ends here. There will be an entertainment programme with lots of information and live music for people of all ages performed on stage. An exhibition and several booths will inform about the work of the partnering charities. Every participant can pick up an ECCO Walkathon kit at Mały Rynek before the walking starts.
The route map will soon be available on this site. The route will go through a part of the Old Town and the Planty commons. It is well-suited for families with children as well as for prams and wheelchairs.
