August 31, 2008 - Copenhagen, Kastellet

16,100 participants raised 150,000 euros with their feet at the 2008 ECCO Walkathon in Copenhagen

1.1 million Danish kroner – or 150,000 euros is the amount "walked in" for charity by the 16,100 people that joined the ECCO Walkathon Copenhagen on August 31, 2008. The donations will be sent to the Danish Heart Foundation's childrens fund, WWF Denmark and Street Kids International.

The 10th anniversary event was opened by long-time patron, Countess Alexandra Christina of Frederiksborg. The central stage at Copenhagen's Citadel featured a number of popular Danish artists, among them bands like The Alpine and OneTwo. The anniversary Walkathon offered some novelty activities for both kids and adults. More than 2,700 children enjoyed the "treasure hunt" and collected gold coins along the walking routes. The result of this fun activity alone was an impressive 18,000 euros for the charity projects.

Our thanks goes to all participants, volunteers, local partners, artists and everybody else that contributed to turning this event into such a great success!
