Renowned Danish shoemaker ECCO announces that staff player Laura Davies successfully defended her UNIQA Ladies Golf Open title with a victory at Golf Club Fohrenwald in Wiener Neustadt, Austria this past weekend.

The 44-year-old Englishwoman began the final round tied for the lead and fired a 68 to finish with a 15-under-par 273 total, three strokes better than England's Lisa Hall. The victory marks Davies’ 70th career win and provides momentum as she takes aim at further victories and Solheim Cup points.
"Four times I've been here and four times I've been in the presentation. Twice a winner now - it's good," said Davies. “I want to get my confidence back and play well in 2009 and be in The Solheim Cup. That is a big thing for me next year.”
Despite cold conditions, the four-time major champion exhibited superb play throughout the final round with birdies on the seventh and eighth holes and an eagle on the par-four 12th. Davies capped off the round by sinking a dramatic birdie putt at the par-five 18th to clinch her victory.
“Laura is a great champion because she knows how to win under any circumstance,” says Jesper Thuen, Sponsor and Event Manager, ECCO Golf. “She had a strong performance this week and ECCO is excited to provide her with the comfort and performance she needs to win.”
