ECCO Staff Player Gwladys Nocera Captures Ladies Scottish Open

Renowned Danish shoemaker ECCO announces that staff player Gwaldys Nocera captured the Ladies Scottish Open this past weekend while wearing the brand’s New Classic golf shoes, shooting three sub-par rounds at The Carrick on Loch Lomond to claim her sixth career LET title.
The 32-year-old native of France earned €30,000 with her first win of 2008 and advanced to second on the money list. Defending champion and fellow ECCO staff player Sophie Gustafson also had a strong tournament, finishing in 16th place.
“My goal when I started the season was to win the New Star Money List because I haven’t won it yet,” said Nocera who finished second and third place on the LET’s money rankings over the past two seasons. “Winning is one of the best things in life, I think, and I’m really happy.”
This marked the second straight LET event captured by a player wearing ECCO golf shoes, after Emma Zackrisson claimed her inaugural title at last month’s Open de Espana Femenino while wearing the brand’s distinctive Casual Pitch Ribbon model.
“The best players in Europe choose to compete in ECCO golf shoes because they know our comfort and performance characteristics are unmatched,” says Jesper Thuen, Sponsor and Event Manager, ECCO Golf. “Glwadys is a tremendous champion and has put herself in great position to achieve her goals the rest of the year.”
A late bloomer, Nocera turned professional at age 27 and has quickly made a name for herself on the global stage. A member of two European Solheim Cup teams, her best season came in 2006 when she won three times on the LET and finished runner-up on the money list to fellow ECCO staff player Laura Davies. She remained among the world’s elite players with victories in 2007 at the KLM Ladies Open and the EMAAR-MGF Ladies Masters.
