I bought a pair of these back in 2001 and they are by far the best shoes i have ever had. i put these things through extreme abuse and they withstood for over 8 years. I war this camping and fishing in MN and even wore then working on fishing boats in dutch harbour during offloads and when docked up for working on deck. these boots impressed me so much i now own 4 other pairs ranging from dress to golf shoes and am just finally going to replace my tracks. I did have to get them restitched after about 6 years and of course taken pride in my care for them but in return they have served me well. I will never go to another company for my footwear again. after reading these other reviews it seems obvious there was a material problem and trust in this company that they will take care of those that deserve it . keep up the good work

I have been in construction for the past 18 years. I have tried every brand of work boot in various price ranges. Even my expensive Justin work boots were impossible to wear without a very unconfortable and blistering break in period. 3 Years ago I purchased Ecco Tracks and found them extremely comfortable, light weight, with virtually no break-in required. I have not as of yet had a problem with the soles. I can't imagine buying any other kind of work-boot.

Who ever gives a one star review on these shoes don't know what there talking about. I sell these shoes, and have had several people come back and get the same pair. Ecco does stand behind there products you just need to contact them and have a valid reciept of purchase. As far as people who have had soles falling apart on them, they must of exposed the boot to some kind of chemical or the boot is really old. As far as getting a pair off of E-bay, you have no idea how old those shoes are, soles can oxidize with time just like a car can rust. Buy your shoes from a trusted dealer and you shouldn't have any issues. Also who leaves a bad review saying they read the reviews and thats what there review is based on, not the product, idiots thats who. ECCO is a great company with a great product bar none

I bought a pair on Ebay, so when the soles fell apart after 2 months, I thought I had purchased 'seconds'. The uppers are in great shape. I have an older pair, the soles are starting to wear down, but nothing like the newer pair. I won't be buying Ecco in the future...bummer as the older pair is really comfortable.

I have had my Ecco Track II shoes for 10 years and am just now throwing them away. I wore them on average once or twice a week. They are the best all-round outdoor shoe and the most comfortable shoe that I have ever owned. I noticed the critiques on the sole crumbling. The last few years I have worn them hiking on rough mountain trails and this happened to me as well. Hiking on rugged terrain will shorten the life of the sole, but considering the life I got out of them, I have no complaints. I will definitely order another pair.

I was about to buy a pair but after reading the reviews I have changed my mind. Shame on this company.

I have 8 pairs of Eccos, twp of the older pairs came from a batch where the soles fell apart. Ecco REPLACED the shoes without a single problem. The other six pairs are fine.

Steer well clear of Ecco shoes. I have had the soles of 3 pairs crumble as I was walking along, leaving a trail of rubber behind me. Contacted Ecco UK, but, of course, no response. Disgraceful behaviour. If anyone is considering a 'class action' let me know.

Talk about a bummer. I just sent customer service a email about my Track II. Took them along into the Rockies in September and did not have soles left when I came down the mountain a week later. When you spend this much on footwear you would expect them to perform.

My experience is similar to others who have written here. After less than a year of only occasional use the soles rapidly began to disintegrate. Ecco asked me to send the boots to them for evaluation, and they agreed to repair them at no charge. They replaced the soles, but with a hard rubber vibram that is unsatisfactory. The comfort level that I paid for has evaporated. I wish I had seen this forum before I purchased this boot.

I've always had a pair of ecco boots and my last pair (X-Trail), which I paid cash for, I didn't wear for about a year. Imagine my surprise when I found that the soles had started to crumble away from the shoes! I called the store but they wouldn't do anything as I didn't have my year old receipt, I contacted ecco UK and they again asked for the receipt and after then ignored me. I wrote to ecco CEO and got no reply! My boots are totally unwearable and I have not used them at all, they still have the sales tags on them! This is my last resort that someone at ecco will take me seriously, but I doubt if they will.

There Tracks are very confortable shoes but unfortunately they have a quickly desintegrating outer sole. Apparently many customers have already complained about this problem and little has been done by Ecco. I called their Head Ofice today and all I got was "send us your pair for evaluation". Not acceptable. Hence this is the last pair of Ecco shoes I'll own.

This will be my third pair of ECCO Men's Track II High boots. I will start out by saying that they are very comfortable and the uppers are bullet proof. The weak link is the sole. It is an injected/molded design which cannot be replaced (with same design). The outer material wears quickly, exposing the black injected foam. Once this happens, the sole will wear quickly and the boot will have to be re-soled. When I sent mine to Ecco, they charged me $75.00 and replaced the sole with a hard Vibram sole. Completely changed the characteristics of the boot....no longer a "cushy" ride! Contacted Ecco customer support and got noooo response. Opposite of Keen which will do anything to make their customers happy.....disappointing!

I have been wearing my tracks constantly for about 2 months and I must say that it is easily the most cofortable shoe/boot that I have ever owned. My only concern is the ability to keep them clean and good looking. However I know someone in the biz of shoes who has had his for 3-4 years and the sole is still in great shape. I also love the look because i wear a lot of khakis and jeans and they suit my look very well

Dear Ecco, I have read a lot of negative comments on your trade mark products, namely the Track II and Track IV. Specifically, the problem lies with the sole. I have got a pair of Track IV, and regrettably, the sole really wore out after a short while, just as what other customers in different parts of the world had commented. My question is: Has ecco looked into the problems, and have you done anything to rectify the problems? Please let us know. Thank you.

I have written to ECCO in Denmark today explaining that the soles of my TRAKS are crumbling and disentegrating.I believe this is caused by poor compounding /processing or manufacturing of the product. I have used the shoes for walking and not climbing. They have been the most comfortable shoes I have ever had.I am hopeing that ECCO replace them free of charge or provide full compensation.I am aware of Mr g Alexander of Wivenhoe's comments. I am pleased that there is an opportunity for customers to air their comments.

These shoes have lasted me two years of continuous (virtually daily) use & they have been most exceptionally comfortable. They are very difficult to clean because of the texture of the leather & my perceived lack of availability of an appropriate cleaning product ( & inability to avoid spilling drops of powerful woodwork glue on them). The leather split from the sole fairly early on at the points where most flex occurs & the stitching wore out at the same area, this means I have to restitch them every so often. Dean Wilson mentions the lack of a leather capping over the moccasin stitching, perhaps that would improve the durability of the seam. I still think that they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned & hope that their replacements will come up to the same standard of comfort with an improvement in durability.

Have bought 6 pairs of Track II boots over the last 6 years. Very comfortable and generally well-made uppers. Soles have suddenly and rapidly crumbled–or just plain disintegrated away on 3 pairs of these after very little use (2 month's worth). Nordstrom of Seattle kindly replaced 1 pair (after just over a year–excellent customer service!), and mentioned that this was not uncommon on this type of ECCO footwear. Have written to ECCO Customer Service about this problem, but they were as unhelpful as Nordstrom had been of service. It was indeed surprising to receive such illogical and inconsequential replies from a company that I thought knew how to make and market a good product; they refused to consider that their might be any inconsistencies with the quality of the soles on these boots despite evidence to the contrary on quite a few webistes. This is not what I would expect from a company which advertises itself by referring to how ECCO products are:… ‘Rugged and flexible…ECCO shoes are designed to fit and perform… strength, water-repellence flexibility, shock-absorption – a lot has to be right in an ECCO…’. Time to give Mephisto a trial; no more recommendations for ECCO; comfortable and well made uppers, but inconsistent quality of soles–and customer relations–is a downer.

I have to agree with one of the previous reviewers about the drop in quality. I have a pair of perfect boots that I bought about 8 years ago, also called Track something (I get a bit lost witht he I's and II's and IV's). On the old pair the leather was thicker and also tougher; stronger, than on my current pair. I had been recommending Ecco boots to everyone I met walking, but I can't do that any more. It's such a shame that a product that is practical and so comfortable and well made becomes worse when attacked by the style police or the cost-cutters. The sole wore out on the old pair but that was because I used the boots so much. Also much of the comfort of the boots was due to the particular properties of the sole, and if it wore out because that was what it was like then so be it! I'd have bought another pair the same just like that but I couldn't find a pair and Ecco say that the old sole was a problem because it wore out. I think it was a great product with a sole that had a finite life - simple as that. I also don't like the mixture of leathers and too many seams on many of the new offerings. Cleaning on plain leather is quick and easy; not any more. The old pair had a one-piece solution to the front and sides of the boot, and the leather also went up and inside the top of the boot. The design around the ... hole where one puts one's foot in... was much stronger because of this. Incidentally I had to order a pair specially into the UK to get boots that were at least all smooth leather and not this funny mixture of smooth and furry. What's the point of that? I don't think the new pair will last anything like as long as the old pair, and when these wear out I will have a problem that I hoped never to have having discovered Ecco boots; I'll have to shop around and I hate doing that. I'm also sorry to be doing Ecco down because I loved my old boots so much... I just hope that someone sees this and that they go back to making the best again.

I have had a pair of these boots for 4 years and they have proven their worth in comfort, protection, and style. Extremely waterproof, warm in the cold and cool in the tropical heat. Never had any blisters when using them. Sadly though, the outsole of one shoe cracked which just baffles me since the sole is not even half worn out. I have another pair which I bought 18 years ago and are immaculately intact till today. I would like to buy another pair but I will have to fly to Hong Kong do to so. i love these shoes.

I have recently bought a pair of Track II and have to say I am rather disapponted. I have owned a previous version ( Don't know the model name )from about eight years ago and find the present ones to be much lower quality. The soles are not as thick, making them less insulating in cold weather, and less suitable for walking on anything but the smoothest ground. There are also no contoured insoles fitted, again making them less comfy. The lace eyelets are of the horrible metal loop type which wear laces out in no time. My previous pair of Ecco's had a leather capping piece to the moccasin stitching around the front of the boot. Surely this is a more sensible construction for supposedly waterproof footwear? Overall I feel the quality of the Ecco has definitely declined since I last purchased this make and are certainly not the go (almost) anywhere boot they should be at a price of £135.

I have owned a pair of these boots before and have worn out the soles over the past 2-3 years. They have had considerable wearing in that time and I would rate them as the very best shoe I have ever worn - like wearing gloves on your feet. They have been durable, warm and waterproof in many extreme weather conditions (hot and cold) I cannot do without them so I am buying another pair. Highly rated.
