I was very disappointed. If you haven't bought an ecco in a few years, this is not the same shoe. It is now made in China, the heel is not as good, the stitching is not as thick or well done. They went to the same cheap manufacturing processes everyone else went to, but kept the high price.

    ECCO, Oct 29, 2009

Please note that ECCO has not outsourced any production but has simply built a production facility in China close to where our tannery is located. There has been no compromise on the quality as the manufacturing processes and materials are the same if not better. We are different to most companies as we own our supply chain and therefore ensure that quality and comfort come before everything else. Your ECCO Team

I had a pair of very similar Ecco shoes a number of years ago and they were very comfortable and lasted for years. I bought a pair of Bostons this spring and hoped I'd get the same kind of use from them. Unfortunately after just a day of wearing them around my apartment, I noticed a nick on the toe of one of the shoes. The finish on the leather was so flimsy that it had scraped off, probably form contact with the underside of my kitchen counter while I did dishes. I'm not talking about a scuff- this was an irreparable nick- unacceptable from a pair of $150 shoes. I sent them back.

I had a pair of these for a few years and couldn't fault them. In the end, the heel collapsed, but the sole seemed pristine, as did the leather upper. I have some Rockports now, but they haven't worn as well, and I'm planning to buy a new pair of Bostons.

Bad experience : Mr K Moore, I agree with you too. I bought a pair of this Ecco in HK to my dad celebrate his birthday, the reason I bought because he loves the pair he is wearing now (MADE IN JAPAN) that he bought many years ago in HK, after we back home open the box happily, we by accident pull out the shoe pad found out a word 'MADE IN CHINA' printed inside the shoes on the shoe pad which is not very very obvious be seen if you simply just look into the shoes, we questioned WHY NOT printed 'made in China' on the sole of the shoes but NO WORDS show on the sole???? We don't mean products made in China is bad, but since the price is expensive, HKD1300 (even after discount, it is HKD1040), the sales of Ecco said the shoes is made in Europe, we questioned why the shoes is not made in Denmark or Europe but CHINA !! The shoes made in China, it really doesn't worth HKD1040 for a shoes since we know very well about China. Why sales of Ecco cheating us??? WHY ???? Also the sales said the shoes have air-max, I think the sales also cheating us too !!!! Ecco claims itself a Denmark shoe making company, it is cheating he customers, we are very disappointed, I also think my dad will experience the same as Mr K Moore soon. Ecco, you will lose four more customers forever (include other family people) !!!!

I purchased my Boston Ecco model shoes in New Paltz, New York in 2003. They proved themselves comfortable from minute one and durable beyond any reasonable expectation. They immediately became my preferred "urban walking shoe" and for the past six years I have logged an amazing number of kilometers/miles in them with no apparent loss of tread on the sole. The shoe tops always look good and seem to retain a matte finish shine longer than any leathers I have ever seen. I can't imagine what magic Ecco performs to manage this feat, but I send kudos to the designers and factory for a job well done.

Went for a job interview last week, wearing one of my TWO pairs of these. Looked down and the sole has completely disentegrated, leaving a trail of rubber crumbs behind me. Very embarrassing. This is the third paid of Ecco's to do this to me. What's the point of a nice comfortable shoe that only lasts a year or so, whether it's worn or *not*? Lots of people have had the same problem, do a Google and see. Contacted Ecco, no response. Thanks for that. You've lost a customer who bought his first pair of Ecco's back in 1985. No more. Disgraceful attitude.
