Having battled foot problems for years, Bickerton achieved a career breakthrough in 2005. Shortly after switching to ECCO shoes, the affable Englishman claimed his first PGA European Tour victory at the Abama Open de Canarias. He has been a Tour mainstay ever since, claiming his second win at the 2006 Open de France, finishing the year at No. 20 on the Order of Merit. The most recognized and accomplished Asian player on the European PGA Tour, Jaidee fulfilled a dream by competing in the 2006 Masters tournament, thereby becoming the only Thai golfer to have played in all four majors. A unique and inspiring story, the Thai hero picked up the game at age 16, hitting with the discarded head of a five iron tied to a bamboo stick. Following time spent as a paratrooper in the Royal Thai Army, Jaidee turned professional at the comparatively advanced age of 30 and claimed his first Asian Tour Order of Merit title in 2001. In 2004, he became the first Thai to win a European Tour event at the Malaysian Open, a title he defended in 2005. Despite battling injuries, Jaidee’s 2008 season has so far featured five top-20 finishes, including a tie-for-second at the UBS Hong Kong Open.
