Bests Star-Studded Field to Claim Title for Second Time in Three Years
ECCO confirms that Staff Player Graeme McDowell wore its luxurious World Class GTX golf shoes while capturing the World Challenge, contested this past weekend at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California.
Showcasing the ECCO logo on his headwear, G-Mac posted four sub-70 rounds to finish 17 under par, win his first title of the season and claim his second World Challenge trophy in three years.
“This one feels very sweet,” said McDowell. “It will give me something to think about in the offseason, some confidence to draw on and something to take into 2013.”
Currently ranked among the world’s top-25 players, the 33-year-old has represented Europe as a member of the past three Ryder Cup teams. He’s now won nine times since 2002, highlighted by the 2010 U.S. Open where he became the first European champion in 40 years.
“Graeme’s a fan favorite around the globe and an exceptional brand ambassador,” says Jesper Thuen, ECCO Global Marketing Manager – Golf. “He’s really played outstanding golf this season, and it’s nice to see him cap off the year with a great win.”

22-Year-Old European Tour Player to Compete in New Tour Hybrid Model
ECCO has re-signed JB Hansen, who will compete in the newly launched Tour Hybrid model throughout 2013, his rookie season on the European Tour.
As part of this multi-year agreement, Hansen will also showcase the ECCO logo on his shirt collar and participate in company marketing initiatives. The 22-year-old Dane began his professional career on the ECCO Tour. Competing on the Challenge Tour in 2012, he recorded six top-10 finishes, including three runner-ups. Most recently Hansen placed a T2 at the season-ending Apulia San Domenico Grand Final to secure the No. 4 spot on the Challenge Tour rankings.
“The key to my performance has been the consistency of my swing and putting, which have both been really good the latter part of this season,” says Hansen. “I’ve been wearing ECCO and everything about my game has just gotten a little better, to where I’ve now earned the chance to play with the top guys.”
The first-ever classic crossover golf shoe, Tour Hybrid features a traditional leather upper design atop the award-winning Street outsole featuring the ECCO dynamic traction system (E-dts). It combines hand-crafted elegance with advanced shoemaking technologies to create a style which uniquely and seamlessly transitions from the boardroom to the car to the country club.
“JB has quickly risen to prominence on developmental tours in Europe, placing him among a number of young Danish players following in the footsteps of Thomas Bjorn,” says Jesper Thuen, ECCO Global Marketing Manager – Golf. “With his game, style and attitude, he continues to be an excellent ambassador for the ECCO brand.”
