Although the new BIOM Hike boot may not be purchased in the stores until autumn this year, it is already drawing a great deal of attention after the Scandinavian Outdoor Group named the product their overall winner at their show in Friedrichshafen.

As a result, BIOM HIKE will be mentioned in the finest outdoor consumer magazines all over the world.
An international jury, of some of the most outstanding outdoor and industry journalists made their decision, after three days of testing and discussions in Åre, Jämtland, based on design, innovation, functionality and sustainability. Jury President Frank Wacker, Outdoor Magazine Germany, said:
“The BIOM Hike, a sturdy Hiking Boot made by ECCO, offers great fit and comfort right out of the box not so typical for this class of footwear – especially since the boot delivers enough support for hikes through rough terrain. The grip of the strong profiled sole on rock, wet grass and snow is very good. Thanks to its solid construction and the use of high quality materials like yak leather, the BIOM Hike will last for many, many years. The Jury was also impressed by the moderate price tag of this outstanding boot.”
Scandinavian Outdoor Group has hosted the competition since 2006, in order to support product and design innovations and to promote new member products. Products from all outdoor segments were nominated, but it was the BIOM HIKE which was awarded the overall winner.
"It is a great honor for us and we are really excited to receive the SOG award 2013 for our BIOM Hike boot. In developing our BIOM technology, over the last couple of seasons, we have focused very much on offering products with a natural fit & feel, combined with specific functionality for different sports activities. We are very happy to see that the jury liked and valued our new hiking boot and believe that the consumers will experience it in the same way.
“The BIOM HIKE is yet another example of the great work that Ejnar Truelsen and Frank Jensen are doing in Futura for performance. They are continually coming up with new product innovations to lift the credibility and brand recognition of ECCO sport," says head of ECCO Sport, Alexander Nicolai.

ECCO ATHLETE JESPER OLSEN COMPLETES 36,896.8 KM IN THE WORLD’S LONGEST FULLY GPS-TRACKED RUN
Cape Spear, Newfoundland, Canada, July 2012: Professional ultra-runner and ECCO ambassador, Jesper Olsen, has further cemented his place amongst the Ultra-Running elite after completing his second World Run.
Running in

ECCO BIOM running shoes, Jesper has covered nearly 40,000km, running from North to South, and recorded the world’s longest fully GPS-documented run in the process.
Since he started his run in 2008, Jesper has covered 4 continents and 28 countries. Jesper ran for over 24 hours to complete the last 200km of his run in an amazing feat of endurance.
During his run, Jesper has experienced much of the world’s dynamic landscapes at close range, starting with Norway’s midnight Sun, where Jesper celebrated his birthday at the beginning of World Run II.
Running through Argentina, Jesper crossed through the beautiful Reserva Provincial El Payen, home to the world’s largest concentration of volcanoes, before experiencing the swamps of Key West, Florida.
At every stage of his run, Jesper has absorbed himself in the local culture of each country and has been joined at many points along the route by local running enthusiasts and clubs.

After running the length of the US coast earlier this year, Jesper crossed the border into Canada in June, heading towards Cape Spear, the most easterly point of the continent.
He reached Cape Spear in Newfoundland, Canada, on Saturday 28th July just after 5pm local time. Local crowds gathered to cheer him as he crossed the finish line.
“It’s an amazing feeling to have completed World Run II. It’s taken four years, 4 continents and countless challenges but having crossed the finish line, it’s something I’m really proud of. I couldn’t have done it without the support from everyone around me, and ECCO has been a big part of that.”
Jesper’s ECCO BIOM running shoes have supported him every step of the way, each pair having covered up to 1000km. Incorporating ECCO’s innovative Natural Motion technology, ECCO BIOM running shoes allow Jesper to run naturally and comfortably over long distances.
