ECCO Celebrated 50th Anniversary with Open House and Walkathon

Around 5.000 people visited ECCO’s headquarters in the south of Denmark to participate in an Open House and Walkathon event celebrating ECCO’s 50th anniversary.

The line of people was long when ECCO opened the doors to the many, curious visitors this past Saturday.

Many of the guests were from the local community and had the opportunity to see how you make a shoe and experience ECCO from the inside. On the route through the production area in ECCO’s facilities in the little rural town of Bredebro everyone could see how to sow an upper, mould the cast and test the finished shoe.

Also at ECCO’s Distribution Centre in Tønder visitors meet up. A bouncy castle was very popular among the children and a gift certificate for the ECCO Shop was offered to the person that came closest to guessing the total number of shoes stocked in the warehouse.

ECCO’s new Conference Centre in Tønder attracted many interested. Here visitors could experience ECCO’s 50th anniversary movie, enjoy a sausage in the centre’s restaurant and the children could get a balloon animal from the clown Paliette.

A walking Experience

Over 3.000 people attended ECCO’s Walkathon event to walk either 6 km or 10 km held in Tønder for the very first time.

For each kilometer walked by each participant, ECCO donates 1 euro to a partnering charity organisation. At this Walkathon it was the Danish charity organisations SOS børnebyerne and Børnehjertefonden.

The Walkathon route ended at ECCO’s headquarter in Tønder. A total of 2252 people walked 6 km, while 835 walked 10. This amounted to 164.000 DKK, but ECCO rounded up the amount and presented SOS børnebyerne and Børnehjertefonden with 200.000 DKK.
