Claims Second Title of 2011 in Marathon Playoff

ECCO confirms that Staff Player Thomas Bjorn wore its luxurious World Class GTX golf shoes while capturing the PGA European Tour’s Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles in Perthshire, Scotland.
Bjorn, who also showcased the ECCO logo on his shirt collar, finished in a five-way tie for the lead after 72 holes. The 40-year-old Dane then prevailed in a five-hole playoff, finally putting away the competition with three-straight birdies. With the win – his second of the year and the 12th of his career – Bjorn moved to eighth place on the Race to Dubai rankings.
“The way I played the last three playoff holes, I can't be more proud of what I did," said Bjorn. "When there're so many young players coming through, it's nice to go out there and feel like you can still compete.”
Perhaps the greatest Danish golfer of all time, Bjorn’s illustrious career also includes serving as a key member of two European Ryder Cup teams and Assistant Captain of the victorious side during last year's competition at Celtic Manor in Wales. He has finished runner-up at three major championships.
“Thomas has really returned to form this year, and continues to show he’s a player to be watched week after week,” says Jesper Thuen, ECCO Global Marketing Manager – Golf. “The way he held his nerve and played his best during the playoff, when it was all on the line, was truly impressive.”

LPGA Tour Rookie to Compete in New Golf Street, BIOM Golf Footwear
ECCO announces that LPGA Tour rookie Belén Mozo has joined its roster of elite staff players and will showcase the company logo on her headwear while competing in the new Golf Street and BIOM Golf models.
Mozo turned professional at the 2010 US Women’s Open, and soon after tied for eighth at the LPGA Tour Q-School to earn full status for the current season. The following week the 22-year-old placed 3rd at the Ladies European Tour Q-School to also earn full status on that circuit. Her early professional success was preceded by one of the best amateur careers in recent memory. This included becoming the first player since 1972 to win the Women's British Amateur Championship and British Girls Amateur Championship in the same year.
“Belén has already captured the world’s attention with her game, beauty and personality,” says Jesper Thuen, Marketing Manager, ECCO Golf. “She’s the ideal addition to our team and pairs perfectly with our other young players competing on the LPGA Tour, Gerina Piller and Jennifer Johnson.”
A native of Spain, Mozo was a four-time All-American at the University of Southern California and a top player on the school’s 2008 NCAA National Champion squad. She also won the 2006 International European Ladies Amateur Championships, as well as the AJGA Thunderbird Invitational and Doral-Publix Junior Classic in 2004.
