As a participant in the ECCO Walkathon, you support one or several good causes that ECCO has selected in your country. All projects are carried out by renowned charity organisations of national or international importance.

October 16, 2010 - Kolding, Akseltorv

2,175 participants raised 16,000 euros at the 2010 Walkathon in Kolding

This year saw the fourth ECCO® Walkathon in Kolding - and we're amazed at the great success of this event in the geographical heart of Denmark. When we started out in 2007, about 600 people came - and by now, participation has almost quadrupled! Danish TV personality Bubber served as stage host and presented a programme filled with entertainment and music for the whole family. Participants walked 6 or 10 kilometres, and for each kilometre they covered cover, ECCO donated 1 euro to the charity projects. Thank you all, citizens of Kolding and surroundings, for turning this event into a wonderful day with family, friends and colleagues!

Results

According to the preferences of the participants, ECCO made the following donations:

  • SOS Children’s Villages: DKK 27,798 (EUR 3,697)
  • WWF Denmark: DKK 37,323 (EUR 4,964)
  • Danish Heart Children’s Fund: DKK 54,880 (EUR 7,299)
Total donation made by ECCO: DKK 120,000 (EUR 15,960)

We would like to thank the ECCO Store in Kolding, the City Kolding retail association, Sydbank, and the Danish Air Force Home Guard for their great cooperation. A special thanks goes to all our volunteers and to all participants for a great day and a fantastic result for the three charity projects!

September 19, 2010 - Hamburg, Stadtpark

2,200 participants raised 16,000 euros for charity in Hamburg

Everybody who participated in the 2nd ECCO® Walkathon in Hamburg on September 19, 2010, had a great experience. ECCO and the three beneficiaries SOS Children’s Villages, WWF Germany and Genety e.V. (in association with Radio Hamburg Hörer helfen Kindern e.V.) would like to thank all walkers for their great commitment and support!

The morning warm-up on stage was hosted by the Jive Sharks (Rostock/Berlin), presenting their unbeatable mix of rock ‘n’ roll, boogie, jive and big band sound. Visitors and participants at the Stadtpark were entertained and guided by Radio Hamburg host Julian Krafftzig. Julian opened the first route at 11 a.m., sending the first crowd of people out on a 10km walk. At 12 noon, the 6km route through the park was officially opened, attracting many families with children who participated in a figure hunt along the route.

After the actual walk, there was more live music on stage at the Naturbad Stadtparksee venue, starting with a body percussion show presented by the kids from Genety e.V.’s youth culture programme. This public premiere was followed by a live concert with Be Souled, a popular Hamburg band playing soul and funk hits from the Seventies, Eighties and Nineties. At 2.45 p.m., the promoters announced the result of this year’s charity walk on stage: 2,200 citizens from Hamburg, as well as visitors from Berlin and Denmark, had participated in the Walkathon. Together, they covered a total of 16,080 kilometres, and for each kilometre, ECCO donated 1 euro to the three charity projects, allocated by the participants themselves.

  • WWF Germany: EUR 5,677
  • Radio Hamburg children’s fund: EUR 4,521
Total donation made by ECCO: EUR 16,080

ECCO and the organizing team would like to thank everybody for their great commitment to this event and its good causes: our 130 volunteers, our event partners VisitDenmark and Globetrotter, our sponsors and media partners, the District of Hamburg-Nord, Bäderland GmbH and everybody who joined the walk.

September 11, 2010 - Warsaw, Agrykola

19,500 participants raised over 175,000 euros at the 2010 Warsaw Walkathon

Results

According to the preferences of the participants, ECCO made the following donations:
  • SOS Children’s Villages: PLN 228,364 (EUR 57,091)
  • WWF Poland: PLN 250,248 (EUR 62,562)
  • TVN Foundation: PLN 223,672 (EUR 55,918)
Total donation made by ECCO: PLN 702,284 (EUR 175,571)

September 4, 2010 - Odense, Kongens Have

3,121 participants raised 24,000 euros at the 2010 Odense Walkathon

This year, the ECCO® Walkathon took place in Odense for the third time. Over 3,000 participants enjoyed a wonderful day in the company with family, friends and colleagues. The event was staged in cooperation with the City of Odense’s Public Health Day at Kongens Have, a beautiful park in the heart of the city.

According to the preferences of the participants, ECCO made the following donations:
  • SOS Children’s Villages: DKK 57,793 (EUR 7,287)
  • WWF Denmark: DKK 54,333 (EUR 7,519)
  • Danish Heart Children’s Fund: DKK 68,675 (EUR 9,134)
Total donation made by ECCO: DKK 180,000 (EUR 23,940)
