ECCO Staff Player Johanna Westerberg Wins Portugal Ladies Open

Danish shoemaker ECCO confirms that staff player Johanna Westerberg captured the Portugal Ladies Open at Golden Eagle Golf Club in Rio Maior this past weekend to claim her first Ladies European Tour title. 

Competing in the distinctive ACE Hydromax model and displaying the ECCO logo on her shirt, the 31-year-old Swede fired a final-round 67 for a three-under-par total of 213 to earn her way into a playoff with Span’s Tania Elosegui. Westerberg then sealed her dramatic maiden victory by sinking a stunning bunker shot on the first sudden-death hole.

"It means a lot, it’s a fantastic feeling," says Westerberg. “I left quite a few birdies out there but I played fantastically well on the back nine and I am so pleased to actually win.”

Previously, Westerberg had recorded 15 top-10s in her seven-year LET career, including two runner-up finishes. With the win, she earned a first prize of €30,000 and advanced to fifth place on the 2009 Order of Merit.
